Beautiful, simple stained glass piece, completely handmade by my friend Amanda in her basement studio. Amanda is a high school English teacher by day
and moonlights as a stained glass designer! I am very excited to be offering her wares to you. These sun catchers will certainly brighten up any room in your home!
Amanda describes the process:
"I cut out the pieces of glass and then grind them to rough up the edges so that the copper foil adheres.
Next, I clean them and tape black-back copper foil to the edges. Last, I treat them with flux (a chemical that helps the solder adhere to the copper) and solder them with 60% tin/40% lead solder.
Some of the pieces are treated with patina to change the solder from silver to copper-colored or black."
This piece has two opaque purple/yellow, one opaque purple slice and one translucent pink slice.
Approximately 4 inches diameter and has a loop for easy hanging.
